CF Connect Up: Kids Social Activities

The CF Connect Up Program aims to connect children living with CF with other children in their local community who share similar hobbies. This Program will assist children living with CF to attend summer holiday programs or an activity of their choice, where they can connect with others, in a fun and exciting environment. This might include activities such as horse riding, coding camp, sports camp, arts and theatre programs, and more.

Here are some examples of camps and activities available across Victoria and New South Wales (these are provided as examples only; they are not endorsed by CFCC).

Take A Break Program

Our Take A Break Program supports CFCC members who are aged 21 years or older and have CF to get away and have a break.  A limited number of grants of up to $500 are available to assist with the cost of a holiday.

This Program is available for members in NSW and Victoria. In Victoria, the program is generously funded by Andrew’s Legacy. Andrew Carr passed away in 2008, and it was his wish that his family and friends donate money in lieu of flowers to fund the program. Andrew wanted other adults living with CF to enjoy quality time away from the ‘hum-drum’ of life – something he and his wife Melissa found so valuable. Andrew’s family and CFCC are grateful to all who have contributed and continue to contribute to Andrew’s Legacy.

Applications for 2024 will close 1 December 2024 (or earlier if all grants have been distributed).

Simon’s Adventure Fund

Simon’s Adventure Fund has been generously established by Simon Minson’s family. Its aim is to enable people aged 18 years and over who have CF to participate in an activity on their bucket list. Simon was always up for an adventure. He snowboarded, skydived, bungy jumped, shot down rapids, dived with sharks, was a keen trail bike rider, got dangerously close to a brown bear in the wild, loved being behind the scenes at the zoo and played footy against guys twice his size!

He chose to live his life to the fullest, with adventures large and small. Simon died in 2014 from complications due to his CF while on one of these adventures with his mates in Vietnam. Simon’s family want people with CF to live life to the fullest and so they have established Simon’s Adventure Fund to assist others to experience their own adventure.

Applications for 2024 will close 1 December 2024 (or earlier if all grants have been distributed).

Carer Respite Program (VIC)

Our Carer Respite Program provides respite to primary carers of CFCC members in Victoria. Carers are encouraged to think about the type of respite that would be most beneficial to them and what would suit their family and caring responsibilities best. It is intended that carers will be supported to take a break, work, or study, improve their own health and wellbeing and engage in other life enriching activities of their choice. If needed, the person you care for will have access to professional respite services to enable you to have a break.
